ANSWER: In this passage a Gentile woman came to Jesus to plead with Him to heal her daughter. Jesus’ response to the woman’s request (verse 26), “It is not proper to take the children’s (Jews) bread, and to cast it to dogs (Gentiles),” was not made in order to be harsh, but rather to test her faith and humility.
