QUESTION: What does it mean when the Bible says, “we are saved by grace through faith?”

ANSWER: The passage referred to is Ephesians 2:8. This verse says that the way of redemption (“grace”) has been provided by God. It has appeared unto all men (Titus 2:11), but clearly all men will not accept it (Matthew 7:13-14). However, when men do accept God’s grace through faithful obedience to the prescribed terms of pardon (Romans 10:17), the result is salvation (Titus 3:5).
