THE CHURCH AT EPHESUS SAVED BY GRACE

              Read Acts 19:1-7                       Memorize Eph. 2:8
         1.   Introduction:
            1. Give a description of the city of Ephesus. See history.
            2. Tell of Paul's trouble and work there. See Acts 19:8-10.
            3. What does "grace" mean?
            4. What some people say of grace: "Sinners are told to give an ex-
              perience of grace"; "Christian experience," "They say one needs no
              preacher when saved by grace."
            5. Is grace a means of belief? Acts 18:27.
            6. Does a gift exempt work or obedience to God's command?
              Josh. 6:1-21.  Heb. 5:8-9.

         II.  What God Foreknew And The Mystery:
            1 .The Church in which Jew and Gentile are made One is a creation of
              the Father, through the Son in the Holy Spirit, decreed from eternity
              and destined for eternity.
            2. Where is God's workmanship created and what did he ordain men
              to do?  Eph. 2: 10.
            3. How has he become our peace and made the one new man? Eph.
              2:14-15.
            4. What operation does God perform when one through faith is buried
              with him by baptism?  Col. 2:12-13.
            5. Where are all spiritual blessings? Eph. 1:3.
            6. What does it mean to be in Christ? Eph. 1:22-23.
            7. Whose workmanship is the church of the Lord? Eph. 2:9-10.

         Ill. What Is Accomplished In Obtaining God's Saving Grace:
            1. Was the gospel preached to these people saved by grace?  Ep h. 1: 13.
              Consider Paul's work in Ephesus.  Acts 18 & 19.
            2. Did the Ephesians believe when they were saved by grace? Eph. 1:
              13.
            3. Did they repent? Acts 19:18-19.
            4. Did they, being saved by grace, need to be baptized? Acts 19:3-6.
            5. How much of God's council did Paul declare to them? Acts 20:25-27.
            6. Did they receive the spiritual life in Christ? Eph. 1:13; 2 Cor. 3:6;
              Jno. 6:63; Acts 2:38.

            IV. They Could And Did Fall From Grace:
            1. Give Paul's prophecy. Acts 20:28-29.
            2. Did they fall from grace? Rev. 2:4-6.
            3. What were they instructed to do to be saved? Rev. 2:7.

       V.   The Grace Of God, Consist Of God's Part And Man's Part:
          1. What was God's Part? Heb. 2:9; 5:8-9.
         2. Does God's part include all men? Titus 2:11-12; 1 Jno. 2:2.
         3. What is man's part? 1 Jno. 2:3; Matt. 7:21.
         4. Should we keep the commandments of God? 1 Jno. 2:4; 2 Pet. 3:9.
