WHAT IS NEEDED TO CURE DISEASES IN THE CHURCH

There are many, many things right with the church. No doubt, the church is not reaching people
today as it did a few years ago.

Much is said about the youth leaving the church, More needs to be said about the adults who
leave the church. Think of the thousands across the land who are disinterested is serving the
Lord.

The diseases---ills---mentioned.
1. Not reaching the people.
2. Youth leaving the church.
3. Adults who are delinquent members.
4. Unconcerned members.

What can be done?

I. THE FIRST THING NEEDED IS SOUND GOSPEL PREACHING.
     A. A casual survey indicates that this is needed all across the land.
     B. Not talking about "nit-pickers," or those who are sounding for all the dirt and gossip that
           might exist in the brotherhood.
     C. Not referring to those who serve as detective evangelists.
     D. Violation of Matt.7:1-4, "beam" in their eyes is larger than the "Mote" they are trying to
           remove.
     E. Our work must be of the highest moral and ethical standard possible. Paul-1 Cor.11:1.
     F. Must be interested in saving lost souls--not building a name for self.
          1. Sound preachers.
               a. Believe the Bible is verbally inspired - 1 Cor.2:8:14.
               b. Preachers who study the Bible--read and quote scripture--meditate on the doctrine of
                    Christ.
               c. Preachers who loves the sinner but hates the sin he commits and condemns sin by
                      preaching the truth.
               d. Preachers who would rather preach than anything else. 2 Tim.4:2.
               f. Preachers who are truly converted to Christ.

II. WE NEED PEOPLE IN THE CHURCH WHO ARE 100% INTERESTED IN GOING TO
      HEAVEN.
      A. The church needs members who do not want a form of godliness while denying the
            power thereof.
      B. Those who profess a form of godliness are mentioned - 2 Tim.3:1-7.
      C. People are needed who want to hear sound doctrine - 2 Tim.4:2-4.
      D. Cornelius' household was ready "to hear all things that are commanded of God" Acts
            10:33.
      E. The church needs people -members- who are not doers and not hearers only - Js.1:25.
       F. The church needs members who are courageous enough to confess their faults when they
            are wrong - 1 John 1:9.
       G. The church needs members who would rather die than deny the Lord - Rev.2:10.

III. THE CHURCH NEED CONGREGATIONS THAT ARE INTERESTED IN SAVING
       SOULS.
       A. A large congregation had 3 baptisms last year.
       B. Gyms--recreation facilities--are good for bodily exercise--but are not God's plan for
             saving the lost.
       C. Here is what is needed: Acts 20:20-21.
       D. Huge rallies--great training programs are good but will not take the place of:
Converted Christians with a burning desire to see lost souls saved.

CONCLUSIONS: Mistakes will be made, but zeal, conviction, love for the truth--will out weight
the mistakes.
