THE CHURCH AT WORK
Gen.2:15; Rev.2:19
Idleness not an original trait of men, God worked and we must work. The church must work -
James 2:24.
I. THE CHURCH AT WORK - INTER-CONGREGATIONALLY.
A. Co-operative support of the gospel - 1 Cor.8:11; Gal.2:9.
B. Combined effort--Christ's kingdom greater than the Local congregation - Acts 2:29;
Rom.15:25.
C. Sustenance space is the world and not local bounds.
II. THE CHURCH AT WORK LOCALLY - AS A CONGREGATION.
A. Oversight-Elders may produce non-workers.
B. Deacons dwarfed, song leaders and teachers with no vision.
C. Preacher working 24 hrs a day but not working the church.
D. Sardis was dead--with a big name --works imperfect.
III. THE CHURCH AT WORK IS A "BODY" AT WORK - 1 Cor.12.
A. Busybodies--the Devil's workshop - not working - 2 Thess.3:11.
B. Are we standing on the promises or setting on our blessed assurances.
C. Storage seed will not germinate - Luke 8:11.
D. Jesus prayed for workers--no non-workers; Matt.9:37-38.
IV. PERSONAL WORK OF BODY MEMBERS--THE CHURCH AT WORK - ACTUAL.
A. Gal.6:10 - we have opportunity.
B. Blinded by tradition of the Father - Mk.7:9; Matt.15:2.
C. We should wake out of sleep - Rom.13:11-14.
D. We should find ourselves: Do it well.
V. VISION IS ESSENTIAL - PROVERBS 1--MEDITATION.
A. Elders to set the pace--planned achievement.
1. Not every elder need be responsible for all.
2. Planned grouping of membership --accountable.
3. Support is relative to the vision and need.
B. Preachers should hammer on vision and the peoples eyes will be opened.
C. Deacons will have plenty to do in a working church.
VI. SOCIAL REFORMATION IS NEEDED CAN SEGREGATE.
A. Work is by contact not paper theories.
B. Contact the sinner through all scriptural means.
1. Polite social conversation - John 4.
2. Tracts.
3. Radio and the Press.
4. Care for orphans, aged and sick - Js 1:27.
